    hello....

new to this board, and hopefully, someone can give me an idea where to find what i'm looking for...

I have 2 altec 639 mics, one is complete with a stand and works well, the other is missing the "dome" top of the birdcage and screws to hold it down, but works great as well. could use the custom female connector for coming out of the mic as well so I can run a cable to XLR.

any ideas as to who might have parts? or maybe a link as to where to look???

    Thanks

    SD!

If memory serves, the connector was an orignal "Cannon" XLR connector (named after the guy who invented it). They show up ocassionally. . .

As for repairs/parts, the only guy I really KNOW has anything for them is Bill Hayes at MicroMike Labs in Anaheim.

    Call him at: (714) 774-0342.

    Tell him I said hello. . .

it's a different connector then XLR. XLR is pretty much the standard today, and what I want to convert to. Easy enough to build, as XLR's are pretty common, but the female connector coming out of the 639 is somewhat different.
